SKYRIM: Dragon Wars

A project reborn

Some of you may be aware of an old project of mine sarted long ago: SKYRIM: Dragon Wars, this was dropped years ago but now Blizzard have announced there intention to update WC3 and increase the map size limit I have decided to restart this old map and finish it.

Skyrim Dragon Wars is based on the lore of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and allows players to play one of the great holds of Skyrim as well as various other factions. It centers around the civil war between Windhelm and Solitude for the independance of Skyrim as well as the great conflict with the Dragon Ulduin and his bid for dominance.

Players controling one of Skyrims holds start off neutral to eachother and can decide whether to side with Solitude or Windhelm or stay neutral and focus on the Dragon threat.

Every Faction will have a second chance option like in LTA. Buildings within a capital city can be conquered and rebuilt again, but players can also build their own outposts which are known as camps.

Playable Factions

WINDHELM: Seat of power for the rebel leader Ulfric Stormcloak, vehemently opposed to imperial rule. Windhelm starts at war with Solitude.

SOLITUDE: A major power within Skyrim and seat of the current Queen. It's King has just been killed by Ulfric thus begining the great civil war. Both Windhelm and Solitude will need to use diplomacy to gain new allies in their war.

WINTERHOLD: A powerful yet secluded college of mages, although secretive, when their college and town are underthreat they respond will the full power of Winterhold College.

WHITERUN: Powerful faction ruled by Jarl, Balgruuf the Greater. Can train Werewolves of the Companions Guild.

MORTHAL: Ruled by Jarl Ingrid Ravencrone; a decrepid yet wise woman with the powers of foresight. Although a dark and dreary place the citys proximity to the marshes has allowed its citizens some resistence against unholy magic.

DAWNSTAR: Supporters of Ulfric Stormcloak and ruled by Jarl Skald the Elder, able to train preists of Vaermina at Nightcrawler Temple.

MARKARTH:
Formerly a Dwarven fortress located within the Reach, Markarth is now ruled by Jarl Igmund.

ALDUIN: Alduin must work together with his Dragon Priest allies to bring the Holds of Skyrim under his control one by one. Although formible in battle by himself, his main strnge lie sin his ability to summon his Dragonkin and expand his army by awakening entombed Dragon Priests and Draugr within the ancient Nordic Crypts.

DRAGON PRIESTS: Servants of Alduin, empowered by the Dova and able to comand the vast undead armies of Draugr. If allowed to become too strong the Dragon Priests and Alduin are a major threat to Skyrim which should not be ignored.

DAWNSTAR FORTRESS: The Order of Dawnstar are a group of Vampire hunters commited to destroying unholy evil within Skyrim, their main aim is vanquish the Vampire Lord Harkon and his Volkihar Clan.

VOLKIHAR CLAN: The most powerful Vampire sect within Skyrim, they seek to bring about the endless night and could potientially become a huge threat to Skyrim if they are allowed to grow in power. This is the only faction which may ally Alduin and his Dragon Priests.

Game Features:

- 11 Playable Factions
- Fully scaleable walls and siege battles
- Control point income
- Mining Iron Ore can also increase your income
- Ingame events and conquerable factions
- Conquerable cities combined with player built ones.

lol well theres alot to do, I will have to release it in stages like I did with LTA, so first Alpha version will feature Dawnstar, Volkihar Clan, Alduin, Dragon Preists and 3 of the Skyrim hold factions. So it will be a "demo" version to test things out which will be slowly expanded as terrain and factions are added.

No your not being a dick at all, looks like I forgot to include Solitude in my description! The Civil war is a major part of this and the game starts at the begining of the war. I'll fix the description.

I'd like to know how do you see the alliance fights going, it all sounds nice, but you haven't really gave us the information about the faction's strenght, how will their power scale and the alliance go. We only got the factions listed and more or less events shaping. (Plus the gameplay) You do stated that cities are free to join the imperial or rebellion, but how will that scale? Will it be like "Join one side or another, or play alone as a very, very weak player that has no meaning?"

Basically, how alliances, factions and players scale. That's what I'd like to know.

I don't even have to comment the screenshots, you do know that they are simply amazing.

Seems good actually =D
Mind doing a test game?
I hope to release a demo soon but I'm not at that point yet, also for this to be playable on BNET I need Blizz to release their map size expansion patch, theres no ETA on that yet :(

Ahh well as this is a strategy game and the Dragonborn is just one person it won't be in this, sorry. It would cause too many problems to have 1 god like hero being controlled by one player, this isnt an RPG so the game will play out asif the Dragonborn wasnt there. There will still be heroes which cna use Thuums like Ulfric and the Greybeards which can be recruited to join your cause.

There will be 7 Holds of Skyrim, Solitude and Winterhold start at war, the others holds are neutral to eachother. By neutral I mean they are allied but without vision, so if you decide not to chose a side you still have allies, this means Holds can decide to focus on the dragon and Vampire threats and not get involved in the civil war.

A Hold can chose which side to join in the civil war and 20 minutes later may switch sides, but each side may only have a maximum of 3 allies. This means most games will end up being 3vs4 however, its not as simple as this as the evil factions will play a major part in who becomes stronger based on who they decide to attack.

If human players decide to focus to much on killing eachother and neglect the threat of Alduin they will regret it later on as he gets more and more powerful.

Dawnstar is allied to all human factions and can not chose a side in the civil war, its focus should be protecting and helping th ehumans fight off Vampire and Dragon attacks. However after 20 minutes it may openly pick a side in the Civil war.

There are also betrayl events later on in the game, for example the Winterhold College may become the Necromancers Guild with the King of Worms as its leader. So there is a huge potential for betrayal and complex alliance combinations which will ensure the game is as unpredicable as LTA.

Well, it is an old project of yours.

I see you removed the dragonborn from your previous map?

It could work, it does sound interesting on the paper, but how will it work in game? Who knows. Just remember not to do the same mistakes as you did with lta, aka one faction having the same strength when alone and when gaining allies. This completly ruins the game balance, and you can actually go and work around it if you sit down and think about it.

Good luck with it anyways.

My dream came true.Marsh is back on her project for Skyrim.By any chance if you can here is the feedback for another faction which i belive will be stupid and certenly no one would try it but i think you could add Greybeards as last faction. They will be a faction of six heroes:Arngeir,Borri,Einarth,Wulfgar,Paarthurnax(Alduin 's brother a dragon and grand master of greybeards can be found at the top of the highest mountain of Skyrim with few dragons who serve him not Alduin) and the six is the Dragonborn who will have one and only main objective which is to kill Alduin.Greybeards have their own unique abilities which are shouts(shouts of fire, frost, water and other stuff).Eaach shout has diffrent effect and diffrent name(Example:Fire Shout |COLOUR RED|Fus Ro Dah or Frost Shout |COLOUR BLUE| Ra The or smt like that). This is how to make the faction to look more interesting.Effects can be healing, destructive, ilusion and many more in some cases even buffs for AOE or Crit and maybe be massive damage.Greybeards will be able to join One of the sides in civil war or Winterhold college(if it allies with Winterhold nor they nor winterhold will be able to ally another|Or if this isnt good think of a better solution to balance the game|).I ll send new replies about this faction if you wish to add it if not then nothing.

Fucking beautiful, @Marshmalo. Never played Skyrim or even heard of the lore and factions, but I could play it easily if it was yours.
